60 Days, 2 months and 1 day, approx 8 weeks. Thats how long it has been since Aberdeen last won a game. We had just beaten Hearts 3-0 in Edinburgh, this was it, a great victory at a hard venue, the corner had been turned. We would go on a run and qualify for European football next season.
Little did we know it would be a long hard winter with no wins and a few draws. Knocked out the cup during the terrible run, once again by a lower league team. With our season in tatters and the manager under increasing pressure from a large section of the Dons fans, not to mention the fact that the teams below us were picking up points and were breathing down our necks, today's win was vital.
It may have been scrappy at times, we may have been under pressure at times, but we got the victory and at this moment in time I will take any 3 points.
But it must not end there, we play Kilmarnock on Easter Sunday, and that is another must win game, not just for the fact that Killie are one of the teams chasing us but also that they are currently managed by former Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood who I am sure would love to get one over on his previous employers.
So will things get better now or is this another false dawn? I wish I knew.
Even a blind Squirrel finds a nut once in a while and I still will take some convincing that Mark Mcghee is the right man to take Aberdeen forward. I have nothing against the man and I hope he proves me wrong, but I still think he is out of his depth.
