The Concacaf Gold cup started for the USA tonight in Detroit as the US Men's national team played against there North American neighbours Canada in Detroit.
The USA were looking to get over their 4-0 hammering at the hands of World and European champions Spain.
The stadium looked empty, there was almost 30,000 their but the problem is Ford Field seats 65,000 people.
Another problem I had with the venue was that the turf is artificial and they just laid grass on top of the normal playing surface, so half way through the game the turf started tearing up.
It was all one way traffic in the first half as Jozy Altidore scored the opener to make it 1-0 USA.
The second half was a different story with Canada putting us under pressure.
Tim Howard came up with some big saves and Clint Dempsey scored somewhat against the run of play to give the USA a 2 goal cushion.
I thought Dempsey did a lot of good running tonight, and Tim Howard as I said earlier kept the Canadians out.
But I agree with the man of the match choice, Jozy Altidore, took his goal well even though the goalkeeper should have saved it and then set up Dempsey's goal with the aid of Aguedelo's toe.
Jozy was a constant threat, it is hard to believe he is only 21 as he seems to have been around for years and he has had some criticism, some of it warranted from the fans of the national team.
The USA now head to Tampa Florida for the game against Panama on Saturday evening.
